This course is written at Level 7 which is equivalent to post-graduate study. However, if students want to use it for credits towards university courses, each individual University will make a decision whether to accept it for credit or not. .It is a highly academic course which is why it is labelled at level 7.

This course allows students to acquire the necessary English teaching skills, techniques, knowledge and training to be effective teachers in a modern classroom. With a TESOL certificate you will be able to put your English teaching skills to good use in many countries around the world.

Objective: Understand what TEFL is and the methods used to teach/learn English and learn to apply them in teaching.

Objective: Acquire sufficient knowledge of English grammar to identify mistakes made by users of English and correct them.

Unit Four:

Objective: Understand the developmental stages of an individual and learn to deal with challenging behaviour that can disturb the teaching-learning process. 

Unit Five:

Objective: Understand various approaches to teach grammar and use them effectively.

Unit Six:

Objective: Understand ways of teaching/learning vocabulary and use them in the teaching / learning process.

Unit Seven:

Objective: Understand how productive skills are taught and learn to use them in teaching/ learning situations.

Objective:  Understand the points of articulation of sounds in the English language and the problems encountered and remedial measures

Unit Thirteen:

Objective: Learn to plan an effective teaching/learning process.

Unit Fourteen:

Objective: Understand the types of lessons to be planned for Young learners and Teenagers.

Unit Fifteen:

Objective: Understand the importance of using resources effectively.

Objective: Understand and learn to use assessment to promote and enhance learning.

Learning Objectives & Outcome:

Delivery Mode:

Lectures, tutorials, lesson observations & practicum will be conducted.

Course Duration: 12 Months

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Prospective teachers must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent. However, the most important criterion is to have good oral and written skills in English.

  • Preferably, students should have a degree-equivalent qualification. However, the most important consideration is that students must be fluent in both oral and written English. Working experience adults are most welcome to apply.

  • Ideally a Bachelor Degree in any discipline but if you do not possess this qualification, and at least five passes in GCE O Level or three passes in GCE A Level to include a pass in English;

  • Age - Young adults to retirees. Minimum 18 years of age.

  • A good level of English for the environment in which you expect to teach.

Assessment and Examination:

An evaluation process is carried out at the end of each module.

What is the difference between Certificate programs and Diploma programs?

The contents of the level 3, level 5 and level 6 certificate programs are ideal for those who want a quick qualification such as basic skills they will use in classroom. It includes the core curriculum of the diploma, but subjects are handled with much less intensity and can be completed in a few days.

TEFL Diploma (Level 7) programs are much more academic and cover the broad curriculum. It means a higher qualification and usually provides job opportunities with higher salaries in better working conditions

Initial Registration process:

Step - 1 - You will send your CV by email along with  the completed TEFL application form (Downloadable from the website)

Step - 2 - TEFL Institute will check the eligibility requirement for the selected course and confirm you by email.

Step - 3 - Choose your preferred payment plan according to your budget on the given payment plans  in the table (A, B  or C given at the bottom of this page)

Step - 4 -

01.Deposit a non refundable registration fee of Rs.5,000/ to the TEFL bank account and send the scanned bank slip to the TEFL Institute.

or

02.Deposit a down payment of Rs.50,000/ along with the Non refundable registration fee of Rs.5,000/ to the TEFL bank account and send scanned bank slip to the TEFL Institute.

or

03. You can make a full payment of Rs.225,000/ or Rs.200,000/ along with non refundable registration fee of Rs.5,000/ to the TEFL bank account and send the scanned bank slip ( You will get a  discount of Rs.25,000 or Rs.20,000/ when making a full payment at once )

Step - 5 - Enrollment  confirmation along with an official Invoice or receipt will be sent to you by the TEFL Institute.

Step - 6 - You will then send the following documents by post/courier or handover in person to the  TEFL Institute.

- Experienced Certificates

- Recommendation Letters given by the previous employers.

- Copy of your CV

Step - 7 - You will sign the two copies of the school -student contract.Keep one for yourself and send another to the TEFL Institute.

Step - 8 - Information on the first day of the class  will be sent to you by the TEFL Institute.

Award

Upon completion of the course, students will receive the Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TEFL).

GRADE A, PASS WITH DISTINCTION:

The trainee teacher has demonstrated considerable further reading, an ability to express original thinking and has proved to have a sound knowledge of TEFL techniques. The trainee teacher has also indicated an attitude and ability to be able to soundly develop these techniques in teaching.

 

GRADE B, PASS WITH CREDIT:

The trainee teacher has read more widely than the course requirements and is able to relate the theoretical issues studied to teaching.

 

GRADE C, PASS:

The trainee teacher has passed the course satisfactorily, has reached an adequate standard in each of the modules and has shown assimilation of the basic elements of TEFL.
